Sandoz's Generic Ozempic Is Approved, but Still Not on Pharmacy Shelves
Health Canada issued Sandoz's Notice of Compliance on September 16. As of September 29, both of its DINs still read Approved, not Marketed. There is no Sandoz price to report yet.
Where It Stands
Sandoz's generic version of Ozempic (semaglutide) has a Health Canada Notice of Compliance dated September 16, 2026. That means Health Canada has approved it for sale. It does not mean anyone is selling it.
Health Canada's Drug Product Database lists two DINs for the product, 02571501 and 02571528. As of September 29, both read Approved, not Marketed. Until that status changes, a pharmacy cannot stock it and a program cannot honestly quote you a price for it.
What Is on the Market Today
Two generic semaglutide products are already being sold in Canada, from Apotex and Dr. Reddy's. Sandoz would be the third. Any comparison of generic programs today is a comparison of those two products, and our generic semaglutide guide and provider ranking reflect that.
We are not adding a Sandoz price to any page until there is a real, dated price from a Canadian pharmacy or program. A third manufacturer could add price competition, but that is a forecast and not a fact.
What to Watch For
- The Drug Product Database status for DINs 02571501 and 02571528 changing from Approved to Marketed.
- A Canadian pharmacy or program listing the product with a verifiable price.
- Claims that Sandoz's generic is available now. Until the database says Marketed, treat those as unverified.
We will update this article, and our price pages, when the status changes. Separately, one lot of the Apotex generic pen has been recalled: see our report on the Apo-Semaglutide recall.
