Mounjaro in Canada

Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist approved by Health Canada in 2023 for type 2 diabetes, and widely prescribed off-label for weight management. It targets two hormone pathways instead of one, which is why it tends to produce the largest average weight loss of the approved injections. It is dosed once weekly, titrating from 2.5 mg up to a maximum of 15 mg.

As with any prescription-only medication, getting Mounjaro means either seeing your family physician or an obesity specialist, or completing an online assessment with a telehealth provider. The providers below are ones we cover in depth with confirmed pricing and coverage information.

Mounjaro pricing compared

Mounjaro is priced by dose and tends to run higher than semaglutide-based medications: roughly $400 to $470 per month at the 5 mg dose, rising toward $580 to $640 per month or more at the 15 mg maximum dose. Confirm current per-dose pricing directly with Felix Health or Direct Meds before enrolling. See our province-by-province cost guide for broader GLP-1 pricing context.

Province coverage

Felix Health serves nine provinces - Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan - and does not currently serve Quebec or the territories. Confirm your province's eligibility directly with Direct Meds before starting an assessment.

A note on generics: Mounjaro is not semaglutide

Different molecule, not a generic Mounjaro

There is no generic version of tirzepatide (Mounjaro's active ingredient) available in Canada as of August 2026. Generic semaglutide, offered by providers like BirchRx and Felix Health, is a different molecule entirely - it is not a generic form of Mounjaro and should not be confused with one. If cost is your primary concern and your clinician determines semaglutide could meet your goals, that is a separate conversation worth having; it is not a substitute prescription for tirzepatide itself.

BirchRx is a Canadian telehealth platform that prescribes generic semaglutide only, currently in Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta, from a $149 first month and $199/month ongoing, all-in. It does not carry Mounjaro or any other tirzepatide product.

How to get a Mounjaro prescription online

The process is similar across providers: complete an online health questionnaire, a licensed Canadian physician reviews your history and current health status, and if Mounjaro is appropriate a prescription is issued and your medication is shipped to your door. No in-person clinic visit is required with any of the providers above. Approval is always the independent decision of the reviewing clinician - no provider can guarantee it in advance.

Frequently asked questions

Who is the best Mounjaro provider in Canada in 2026?+
Felix Health and Direct Meds both prescribe brand-name Mounjaro (tirzepatide) online. Felix pairs it with an established nine-province telehealth program; Direct Meds offers a pharmacy-first, no-insurance-required route. Neither offers a generic version, since tirzepatide does not yet have a Health Canada-approved generic.
How much does Mounjaro cost in Canada?+
Mounjaro pricing scales steeply with dose, running roughly $400 to $620 or more per month depending on strength. It is one of the more expensive GLP-1 options because of its dual GIP and GLP-1 mechanism. Confirm current per-dose pricing directly with Felix Health or Direct Meds.
Is there a generic version of Mounjaro?+
No. Unlike semaglutide (Ozempic's active ingredient), tirzepatide does not yet have a Health Canada-approved generic as of August 2026. Generic semaglutide is a different molecule and is not a generic version of Mounjaro - see the note below if you are weighing the two.
Do I need a prescription to get Mounjaro online?+
Yes. Mounjaro is a prescription-only medication in Canada, approved for type 2 diabetes and widely prescribed off-label for weight management. Online providers have a licensed Canadian physician independently review your intake before any prescription is issued.
Does insurance cover Mounjaro prescribed online?+
Neither Felix Health nor Direct Meds bills private insurance directly, per each provider's published information. Both let you request an itemized receipt to submit to your own insurer. Reimbursement depends on your plan and whether Mounjaro is prescribed for type 2 diabetes or for weight management.
